HEMINGWAY TEMPLE A.M.E CHURCH
" The Church Where Love Makes A Difference "
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Rev. Thann Young, First Lady and Associate Pastor Margaret Farr-Young, Ministerial Staff, Officers and the Hemingway Temple AME Church Family join in your grief in the death of your loved one. May you know the Lord’s comfort and may His love surround you during this time of loss.
Because death is such an important and sensitive time in our lives, we have set up guidelines to assist families through the funeral preparation process. We need you to follow proper guidelines to assure yourselves that everything is done in order. We need you to do the following when death occurs within the church family.
1. Immediately contact the church via phone (202-265-7077), Pastor Young 240-426-5417 or send an email to hemingwayame@gmail.com (monitored 24 hours a day) and advise us that a death has occurred.
2. Meet with Pastor Young and members of the Bereavement Committee before making final arrangements with the funeral home. Please direct any questions or concerns you may have to Pastor Thann Young (240-426-5417), Brother Berkeley McPherson (202-486-3471) or Sister Trudi Davis (301-706-8978).
3. Understand that no Hemingway Temple AME Ministry or person can make any plans for participation in the wake, Homegoing service, burial, or repast without clearance from the Pastor or his designee.
Please Remember
We will do our very best to honor your request as we remember that Homegoing Services are worship services designed to comfort and encourage the family, and bring Glory and Honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Date/Time of Funeral
The wake is generally one hour beginning at 11am and the funeral service begins promptly at 12 Noon. Rev. Young will preach all funerals when he is available. In his absence Rev. Young will assign the Officiant.
Funeral Bulletin
The Hemingway Temple AME staff will prepare the bulletin. Rev. Young and the Bereavement Ministry will discuss the format of the bulletin at the time of visitation.
Repast
If the family requests a repast, the Bereavement Ministry will discuss the menu and costs with the family, if applicable.
Costs to the Family
If the deceased is a member of the Hemingway Temple AME there is no charge for the use of the sanctuary, Officiant, and musician. If the deceased is not a member, Rev. Young will discuss a Love Offering at the visitation.
