Mrs. Gertrude ‘Trudi’ Davis Awarded

the Distinguished Leadership Award

Sis. Gertrude ‘Trudi’ Davis, a member of Hemingway Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, Washington, DC, and the Local Missionary President from 2012 – 2022, was awarded the “Distinguished Leadership Award” for her meritorious, and faithful service to her Local Church and Missionary Society, and the Catherine C. Hemingway Area of the Washington Conference Branch Women’s Missionary Society of the Second Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Sis. Trudi, as she is affectionately called by all who know and love her, was virtually acknowledged at the monthly Washington Conference Branch Women’s Missionary Society on February 7, 2022, where approximately 100 members of the Washington Conference Branch Women’s Missionary Society extended blessings and congratulations to Sister Trudi as she and her family will be returning to their home state of South Carolina.

On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, our Conference President, Sis. Jeanette S. Hite, and the Immediate Past Area Chairperson, Sis. Josephine Thomas, and presiding Area Chairperson, Sis. Essie W. Thompson met with Sis. Trudi on the Church Campus Grounds of Union Bethel African Methodist Church, Brandywine and presented her the “Distinguished Leadership Award” and other tokens of appreciation. We truly believe that God has greater works for His unassuming humble servant – Sis. Gertrude ‘Trudi’ Davis!

We express sincere thanks to Sis. Trudi's brother and former pastor, Rev. Dr. Michael A. Bethea, and Rev. Luann Bethea, Sis. Trudi’s sister-in-law and our photographer. Rev. Bethea is a former First Lady of Hemingway Temple AME Church. Sis. Trudi extended thanks to all her missionary sisters and brothers, and the young people of the Washington Conference Branch Women’s Missionary Society and beyond. She also extend thanks to her Pastor Rev. Thann Young and First Lady, Rev. Margaret Farr Young, and the many, many other people who played a big part in her life that got her to where she is today!
